Oak Mosaic: Handwoven Wool Tapestries Where Soft Wool Meets Reclaimed Oak

Run a hand across an Oak Mosaic piece and you feel two materials answering one another — the give of natural wool and the quiet grain of reclaimed oak. One is soft, warm, and full of relief. The other is structured, architectural, and grounding. Woven together by hand, they become a single tactile wall art surface that shifts with the light and settles a room.

Oak Mosaic — handwoven wool meets reclaimed oak.

A Weave Where Wool Meets Oak

Oak Mosaic is a mixed-media collection of handwoven framed wool tapestries, where minimalist wool is set against rhythmic elements of upcycled oak. Each piece is shaped by hand at our studio in Chrzanów, Poland: the wool is woven and combined with fine oak detailing, then set into a solid wood frame for a gallery-ready finish.

This is slow craft, not mass production. The oak is reclaimed and upcycled, the wool is natural, and no two pieces are ever identical. Because it is real wool, an Oak Mosaic tapestry does more than fill a wall — it softens the acoustics of the room as much as its look, absorbing sound and taking the hard edge off open, minimalist spaces.

Texture You Can Feel Across the Room

In pared-back interiors, texture becomes emotion. A woven wall hanging brings depth without noise, softness without clutter, and character without excess. The wool sits in low relief, catching shadow along every ridge, while the oak introduces a calm, linear rhythm — like the horizon of a landscape drawn in fibre and wood.

Look closely and you see the trace of the hand: small variations, layered fibres, and sculptural passages that make the surface feel alive. This is what separates handmade textile art from factory-made decor. It carries warmth, imperfection, and a quiet sense of presence that a printed poster never will.

Made for Japandi, Wabi-Sabi and Organic Modern Interiors

Oak Mosaic was made for calm, natural interiors. The neutral wool tones and warm oak sit effortlessly within a Japandi palette, echo the honest imperfection at the heart of Wabi-Sabi, and add tactile warmth to organic modern and minimalist homes. Against plaster, lime wash, pale timber or stone, the collection reads as quiet luxury — art that anchors a space rather than shouting over it.

Where Each Piece Belongs

Above the Sofa

In a living room, a larger Oak Mosaic tapestry becomes a grounding focal point above the sofa. Aim for a piece around two-thirds of the sofa’s width so the wall feels considered and complete.

Above the Bed

Above a bed, the softness of wool does something a framed print cannot: it warms the room acoustically and visually, creating a calm, enveloping headboard of texture. Choose a horizontal or square format to sit comfortably within the width of the bed.

Entryways, Corners and Quiet Walls

A smaller format brings intimacy to an entryway, a reading nook, or a narrow stretch of wall that needs warmth rather than a large statement. Vertical pieces suit tall, slim walls and stairwells beautifully.

Hotels, Galleries and Design Projects

For boutique hotels, galleries and residential or commercial interiors, Oak Mosaic offers architects and interior designers a bespoke, natural material story — sculptural, acoustic, and unmistakably handmade. Custom sizes and compositions can be commissioned for specific walls and projects.

Slow Craft and Natural Materials

Every Oak Mosaic tapestry is one of a kind, made from natural wool and reclaimed oak in a small studio, by hand. Choosing it is choosing sustainable, artisan wall art with real provenance — an object that holds the value of time, skill, and material. In a home full of manufactured surfaces, that handmade presence is quietly grounding.

Choosing Your Size

Oak Mosaic pieces are handmade to order in six sizes:

  • 45 × 75 cm (18 × 30 in)
  • 60 × 60 cm (24 × 24 in)
  • 60 × 100 cm (24 × 39 in)
  • 80 × 80 cm (32 × 32 in)
  • 80 × 120 cm (32 × 48 in)
  • 100 × 100 cm (39 × 39 in)

For above a sofa or bed, size up — larger textile art reads as intentional and calm. For corners and entryways, a smaller format keeps the moment quiet. Not sure? Send us a photo of your wall and we’ll help you choose the right scale.
