Ma is the first piece from Lumen, a collection in which handwoven wool becomes both textile art and ambient light. Its name comes from the Japanese concept of ma, the meaningful interval between things. A pause, a gap, a space deliberately left open. Here, light exists precisely because of the spaces within the weave.

When switched off, Ma is a quiet raw white wool artwork with a delicate architectural rhythm. When illuminated, the open structure reveals another layer. Warm light moves between the threads, makes the irregular handwoven pattern visible and casts a soft textile shadow onto the wall.

Woven by hand at our Chrzanów studio from natural two-ply wool using a specially developed single warp technique, then stretched over a wooden artist's stretcher and set into a slim Pine Natural frame. The open back is intentional: instead of a backing board, the wall becomes the final layer of the piece.

Integrated 24 V COB LED lighting with adjustable colour temperature from warm 2700 K to cool 6500 K, adjustable brightness and memory of the previous setting. Remote control and power supply included. Designed by a mother and daughter at Lale Studio.
