Large Woven Wall Hangings

Our large woven wall hangings are made for walls that need presence: a living room with a high ceiling, a stairwell, a hotel lobby, a long wall above a bench. Every piece here measures at least 120 cm (47 in) on one side, and the largest reach close to 3 m (over 110 in). Each one is woven by hand on a loom in our studio in Chrzanów, southern Poland, mostly in two-ply wool, some in natural cotton.

A large wall tapestry, at full scale

At this size the weave starts to behave like architecture. Sizes below are width x height. Long vertical pieces such as Zafer, 102 x 200 cm (40 x 79 in), lift the eye in a tall space. Wide ones such as Teide 7, 280 x 100 cm (110 x 39 in), run along a sofa wall or a dining room, and Totipoa, 200 x 220 cm (79 x 87 in), almost fills a wall on its own. Four framed works also reach this scale: Huek Large Framed at 110 x 185 cm (43 x 73 in), and Linea, Vitre and Magran in a tall 50 x 200 cm (20 x 79 in) format. How to choose the size

Measure the wall first, then the furniture in front of it. Above a sofa, bench or console, a piece about two thirds of the furniture's width looks settled; on an open wall, leave a calm margin on every side. Mark the outline with painter's tape before you decide, and in a stairwell or a double-height room, think vertically. A wool piece of this size also takes the edge off echo in tall, open spaces.

How do I choose the size of a large wall hanging?

Measure the wall and the furniture below it. Above a sofa or bench, aim for about two thirds of the furniture's width; on an open wall, leave a calm margin on every side. Mark the outline with painter's tape first. Every product page lists the exact width and height in centimeters and inches.

How do you hang a heavy woven wall hanging?

A rod piece rests on two screws or hooks placed just beyond the edges of the textile; a framed piece uses the four mounting brackets on its back. Choose fixings rated for the weight and suited to your wall, especially on drywall. Screws are not included for that reason.

Can you weave an even larger piece?

Yes. Most designs can be woven larger or in other proportions, including diptychs and multi-panel installations for very wide walls. Send a photo of the wall with its measurements and we will propose scale and format with a quote.
